Blackfoot Legends

For my USHRS research project on Native Americans, I was initially going to research the Crow Nation in southern Montana and northern Wyoming. However, a lack of information surrounding this tribe caused me to explore other Native American tribes. I stumbled upon the creation myth of the Blackfoot Indians, which greatly interested me. I found another book full of Blackfoot customs and legends. After that I decided to focus on the Blackfoot legends and what they say about the morals of that tribe. The Blackfoot are most well known for their interactions with Lewis and Clark on their expedition and their general hostility towards the travelers. This tradition of enmity for Europeans continues today. I want to look into how the introduction of the European settlers affected the culture and values of the Blackfoot Indians.
