I have been in United States History Research Seminar for over 6 weeks. We began the year learning about the SOAP Form, which is a “guided process for analyzing primary historical sources and assessing their reliability”. After reading a few primary sources with the SOAP Form to recognize bias, we were assigned to write a bias paper. For the bias paper, we had to choose a primary source of our choice to analyze with the SOAP Form. Next, we were assigned a “Colonial Museum” Presentation Project, in which are goal was to “educate people of all ages about our specialty area of colonial history, through a performance, tour, and/or electronic display”. Our latest assigned project is a debate about which came first- racism or slavery? From all these assignments, one can see that the USHRS has a variety of learning methods.

Thanks for your observations on USHRS, Cammie. You’re right, we’re trying to use a variety of learning methods, to hit everyone’s interests and abilities. That can be frustrating for some, I’m sure, but it’s for the best I think. Keep up the good work!
